This Fall students created beautiful tree houses out of wood and found objects in the Wood Wonders workshop on Friday mornings. They utilized basic woodworking skills and teamwork to create the structures, as well as hand made furniture and decor. The final products were artistic and unique to each student.
Year: 2019
Kokanee Class (Ages 6-7)
Kokanee students explored measurement in nature during their weekly Outdoor Education class at Seahurst park. The students used string to measure natural items they found in the forest and on the beach.
Chinook Class (Ages 8-10)
Chinook students spent time during Outdoor Education class exercising their senses. Taking away the sense of sight offered many challenges and required them to trust their other senses to lead them safely through the forest.
Coho Class (Ages 5-6)
Students practice thinking like scientists by diligently recording their observations over time of several experiments using pumpkin chunks and leftover Halloween candy.
Math in Coho and Kokanee
Students across all classes use manipulatives regularly to show their thinking and problem solving skills. In the Coho and Kokanee classes, we have been working on making ten, counting on, and skip counting. Using ones, tens, and hundreds blocks help bring numbers to life and reinforce place value concepts.
Cedar Playschool (ages 4-5)
Celebrating the season with Cedar Play School kiddos! The Story of How the Apples Got Stars Within by Madge Bigham led us in exploring apples through baking and art. Cedar Playschool meets Friday mornings and we still have spots available in this sweet little class!
All School Community Meeting
Social emotional learning is important at the Bridge School. Every Tuesday morning we meet as an entire school community to talk about how to grow in this way. Last week we talked about what it means to be kind to one another and every student contributed a phrase for a “list” poem called “Kindness is…”
Chinook Class (ages 8-10)
The Chinook kids made “robotic fingers” as a part of their Science Mystery “Why Do Biceps Bulge?” They learned how our muscles, tendons, and bones work together to move joints!
Wilderness Explorations – Coho Class (Ages 5-6)
Our outdoor education program is now in full swing! The Coho students and teachers enjoy the beauty of Seahurst Park while exploring and interacting with the natural environment.
Creative Enrichment (ages 6-8)
Our “Jungle Jumble” Friday Enrichment class has gotten off to a great start! We’ve made snakes, tigers, tiger cubs, bouncy serpents as well as leaf-rubbing jungle scenes. Our study of rainforests this session will include jungle themed story time, songs, arts and crafts, and games!
